windows 7 is genius…

Microsoft made a genius move. First, they made a shitty operating system, Windows Vista. Second they have now hyped their new operating system, Windows 7. I recently downloaded Windows 7, and from what I can tell, Windows 7 is just Windows Vista with a few modifications. Now don’t get me wrong, Windows 7 is a lot better than Vista, and those modifications are well designed. 7 seems faster than Vista, and if you are making the switch from Vista to 7, you won’t have any problems at all. However, if you waited, and stuck with XP, you will still have the same problems that you would have from switching to Vista.

however the real genius is that microsoft created a “decent” operating system that compared to vista, is magnificent. so public hype is already very positive. all those people that didn’t want to get vista will get windows 7. but for those of us that did get windows vista, we are getting charged full price for an upgrade. because thats all that 7 is, an upgrade. the shell is the same, the look is the same. all they did was make it a little more efficient and throw in a few snazzy features. and if you bought vista, you’ll get suckered into paying 140 dollars, or whatever it is, for an upgrade. The beauty of it all is that everyone that has vista will do it too. why? because vista sucks.

  1. OK, interesting theory, Brad. However, I really doubt Microsoft’s leadership purposely spent over a billion dollars developing, advertising, and using an intentionally shitty operating system. I’m assuming you know that, though, and that you’re making a joke.

I haven’t downloaded the beta yet, but I’ve heard great things, even from Microsoft critics like Walt Mossberg at AllThingsD. And what is a new operating system if not an “upgrade”? Very, very few operating systems have been revolutionary. Most are evolutionary, and for good reason. When you have billions of customers, forcing them to make a huge change is just bad business.

But you, oh wise one, knew that, too, right?
